If you could be anything, what would you be?
For me, I’d like to be a snake
as thin and slender as a rake.
I wouldn’t hide or bite or hiss,
I’d want to be a snake that you just couldn’t miss.
I’d be shiny yellow with purple spots,
joined together by sea green dots.
With big blue eyes, sparkling teeth
and a bright orange belly underneath.
I’d wear a big smile and laugh and play,
Yes! I’d be a snake any day.
I could pretend to be an umbrella or walking stick,
or come out of a hat in a magic trick.
I could turn into Frisbee’s and hula hoops.
I could stand up quite straight or twist into loops.
You could also use me to hold up your pants,
I’d be the funniest snake ever, if I had half a chance.
I’d tell funny jokes and make the kids giggle,
then I’d tickle their bellies and make them all wiggle.
See if I was a snake I’d be so much fun
That no-one who met me would want to run.
But if I couldn’t be a snake, what else could I be?
Maybe a spider would be the life for me.
Yes! I’d definately like to be a spider,
one inch wide, or maybe wider.
Cause spiders really scare my mum,
Wow! being a spider could be so much fun.
I’d just wait till my mum went to sleep,
then right up beside her I would creep.
Then when she woke up, I’d yell out BOO!
that’s the funniest thing I could do.
Cause she would scream and jump and run,
until I told her it was all in fun.
I’d tell her not to be afraid,
then I’d take her and show her the web that I’d made.
I’d tell her that spiders are really not scary,
even the ones that are big and hairy.
Then I’d tie my eight legs into a big knot,
and spin like a top on the one spot.
Mum would start laughing as I got dizzy
and my hair stood up and went kind of frizzy.
Then I’d spin a web into the shape of a rose,
then mum would love spiders, I suppose!
Being a spider or snake would be fun,
but what if I was a frog who loved to run?
Yes! I’d also like to be a frog
A frog who really loved to jog.
I wouldn’t leap or jump or hop,
I’d pull on my shoes and off I’d trot.
They’d be fluorescent blue shoes with orange laces,
can you imagine the look on the other frogs faces?
They’d all laugh at me but I wouldn’t care,
when we went to the pond, I’d be the first one there.
As all the frogs hopped round the place,
I’d just jog by at a steady pace.
I’d get there first and collect a bunch,
of tasty insects for my lunch.
After lunch I’d race a dragonfly
and he’d be surprised as I jogged on by.
He’d certainly be no match for me.
I’d be the fastest frog in the land you see.
I could out run a fox and a rabbit to,
Hey! Maybe I could even out run you.
So while the other frogs, all pointed and jeered,
and laughed at me and said ‘you’re weird’.
I’d just keep jogging and wouldn’t stop.
Yes! if I was a frog I’d never hop.
Being these things would be fun for me,
But if you could be anything, what would you be?
